Philip Wickware

 

Wickware also spelled Wickwire, Wickwise
Alpheus
was a river god in Greek mythology.
Lebbeus (Laboris, Lebeus, Lebius, Lebeous, Libeous, Libious) is from the Bible. It means a man of heart.

 
 

Philip Wickware was born on July 24, 1791. He was the son of Philip Wickware.

He married Matilda Griffin (1798) on December 1, 1816.

He operated a vessel on the river and contracted a fever at Toronto.

Philip and Matilda's children included:
Lebbeus (Libeous_ Philip Wickware, (1817, married Catherine Mallory),
Alpheus Wickware (1819, married Florence Lapointe),
Samuel Griffin Wickware (1821-1826),
Gilbert Wickware (1823, married Elizabeth Truesdell), and
Matilda Wickware (1826-1826).

During the War of 1812, Philip served in the Leeds County Militia.

In 1824 Philip witnessed the marriage of Nathaniel Brown and Peggy Philips.
